Richard Mullens Update 3/13

Update, I spoke with Brookland Tx. School Teacher Richard Mullens earlier today. Mr Mullens was suspended from his position as a Teacher at Brookland High School for being an "Atheist" and a "Liberal". I have been trying to spread the word, about this issue and help Mr. Mullens find legal representation. I was shocked, touched and moved by the outpouring of support and help from Mr. Mullens students, town residents and by concerned citizens from all over this country, as well as calls and emails of support from as far away as New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Sweden. I want to say thank you to all of you who reached out and helped this Fine man in his quest for justice. Thanks to your efforts there have been a number of positive developments in his case. I have refrained from speaking about some of these things for fear that this might disrupt Richard's lawyers plans.
For one several NEW witnesses have stepped forward, who will attest to the fact of Mr. Mullens religious and political beliefs were brought up and discussed at a meeting of the Brookland School Board just prior to his suspension and that the motivations for his suspension were based on these discussions.
Mr. Turner, the Principal of Brookland High School was relieved of his duties weeks ago, over his handling of this matter. However it is clear to me, at least that this man is a patsy, a scapegoat used by the superintendent and the School Board to try and sweep this issue under the rug.
In other news, the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has assigned an investigator to begin looking into all the details of the Mullens case, for the next six months, and the process for potential mediation is about to begin.

Finally, I want to thank all of you who have been there for Mr. Mullens, a good decent man who has had his rights violated, by those of small minds and small ideas. Your calls, letters, and emails made this all possible. Richard is coming to Memphis next week and i'll finally get to meet my new friend him face to face. If he has time, i'll have him post on this blog in his own words about this experience.
