What Jake Really Wants...

Jake Ford answered the question for what he really wants yesterday. This is an almost direct quote (if you want the direct quote go over to the River City Mud Bugle for the audio. This quote is at the end. My memory isn't perfect this time of morning)

"I want what all Congressmen want, to get reelected."

Sounds like about the answer I'd expect from a high-school drop-out/lobbyist/part of a corrupt political machine. Just think, if Jake starts out this idealistic, how great will he be in ten years?

Jake's answer is ridiculous! Keep up the good work.

My first post above was based on the posted transcript of the interview before I actually listened to the interview.

After listening to the interview, I have to say that Jake definitely performed better than I expected. He sounded polished at times and spoke in a similar cadence to the 1st Congressman Ford.

Anything is possible in politics, so Jake has a chance. He will need A LOT of things to occur, but stranger things have happened.

People are not voting in large percentages, so Jake will need to ignite some type of get out the vote "movement" in the next 30 days to have a chance in the race.

Jake will also need money to wage a TV war with Cohen and White. The candidate with the most TV ads between now and November 7 will likely win the Congressional seat.

Of course, there were some negatives in Jake's performance. Those have already been pointed out on the blogs, so I won't repeat them.

Jake performed better than my expectations as well, but those were so low that as long as he strung together a coherent sentence he exceeded them. He had very little substance, even if he was somewhat well spoken. Besides, he had an interviewer who coddled him, supportive callers, and the one somewhat-critical caller was hung up on. If my grandmother interviewed me and insisted that no one be mean to me, I'd do pretty well too.
